Lance N. Jenkins was born on May 14, 1949. His home of record is Vineland, NJ.
He served in the US Marine Corps and attained the rank of Lance Corporal (LCPL). He completed basic training at Parris Island, SC, and was transferred to Camp Lejeune, NC, for further training. He spent several months in Hawaii before being assigned to the machine gun platoon for Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines in Phu Bai, South Vietnam.
Jenkins was killed in action on December 6, 1967, during a heavy attack of enemy mortars in Thua Thien Province.
He was survived by his father, Thomas C. Jenkins.
Jenkins received numerous awards and decorations including the Purple Heart, the Marine Corps Combat Action Ribbon, the Presidential Unit Citation, the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one star, the Vietnamese Military Merit Medal, the Vietnamese Gallantry Cross with Palm, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Expert Rifle Badge.
