Leo Frank Green, Jr. was born on February 7, 1949, to Leo and Phyllis Green, Sr. His home of record is Vineland, NJ. Leo had a brother, Bruce. He graduated from Vineland High School in 1968. While growing up, Leo’s interests included baseball, fishing and playing cards.

Green was drafted into the US Army in August 1968, and completed his basic training at Fort Dix, NJ, and received advanced training at Fort Polk, LA. He served in the 1st Cavalry Division where he attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC). He was a machine gunner on a helicopter in the 1st Air Cavalry Division.

Green was killed on August 12, 1969, in South Vietnam when his unit was ambushed near Tay Nin. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Green is interred at the Greenwood Cemetery at 1001 East Broad Street in Millville, New Jersey.
