Louis J. Inferrera was born on January 1, 1949, to John and Josephine Inferrera. His home of record is Vineland, NJ. He had five siblings – Donald, John, Eleanor, Joan and Josephine. Louis enjoyed being on a Little League team. He also liked track. Louis wanted to be a barber like his older brother.

Inferrera enlisted in the US Marine Corps on September 28, 1966. He attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC). Louis did his boot camp training at Parris Island, SC and completed advanced training at Camp Lejeune, NC. He was an infantry rifleman with Kilo Company of the 3rd Marine Division. He arrived in Vietnam on March 24, 1967.

Inferrera was killed in action on May 20, 1967, during a search and seizure mission in the Quang Tri Province. He is buried at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Inferrera was awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Medal w/ one Star, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Marine Corps Combat Action Ribbon, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnamese Military Merit Medal and the Gallantry Cross w/one Palm.
