Linwood E. Hyman was born on March 31, 1951 to Raymond and Nancy (Williams) Hyman. His home of record is New Brunswick, NJ.

He served in the US Marine Corps and attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC). Hyman served with Charlie Company, 11th Motor Transportation Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 3rd Marine Amphibious Forces.

Hyman was killed in action on November 27, 1969. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service and National Defense Service medals. He is buried at Staton Cemetery in Halifax County, North Carolina.
