Karl D. Hezel was born on December 8, 1933 to Karl and Marie Hezel. His home of record is Cranford, NJ. He graduated from Cranford High School in 1951. Under his yearbook picture it states “Life is what we make it.” His future plans were to be a dentist. His nickname was “Hetz.” He was a member of Sr. Play Cast, Photo Club, Rod and Gun Club, Chess Club, Visual Aids Club, Stage Crew, and the soccer team.

He enlisted in the US Air Force and attained the rank of Major (MAJ). He was awarded the Air Medal with clusters, the Combat Readiness Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Purple Heart.

Hezel was killed in action on November 17, 1967. He is buried at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Linwood, PA.
