Edward C. Morrow was born on March 3, 1949. His home of record is Califon, NJ. He graduated from North Hunterdon Regional High School in 1968. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and cars.

In March 1969, Edward enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he attained the rank of Corporal (CPL). He was sent to Vietnam with Company B, 2nd Platoon, 1st Engineers Battalion, 1st Marine Division.

In Vietnam, Morrow was a minesweeper who had to locate mines in the road and remove them to make way for convoys. On the morning of September 1, 1970, in the Quang Nam Province, Morrow posed for a picture with some fellow Marines. While standing in an area that was thought to be cleared, Morrow picked up a piece of barbed wire from the road to throw it to the side. The wire was booby-trapped and set off an explosion from a hidden mine.

On September 2, 1970, Morrow died as a result of the head wounds he suffered in the explosion. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
