Francis John Alberts was born on May 13, 1938. His home of record is Villas, NJ. Francis was one of ten children. He attended Roxborough High School in Philadelphia, PA. He left High School in 11th grade to join the Army.

Francis worked on boats in Villas, NJ, before deciding to make a career of the Army. He enlisted in the US Army from Villas in 1958, and served for 8 years. He attained the rank of Sergeant (SGT/E5). Alberts was stationed in Germany before being assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division Airmobile (AMBL) in Vietnam.

Alberts was killed in action on August 27, 1966, in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam by small arms fire. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct, National Defense Service, Vietnam Service and Vietnam Campaign medals.

Alberts was survived by his wife (Janet) and son, his parents, seven brothers and two sisters. He is buried at Florence National Cemetery in South Carolina.
