Thomas Kukowski was born on February 25, 1946, in Hackensack Hospital. His home of record is Montclair, NJ. Thomas had one sister and one brother. He graduated from Furman University as a 2nd Lieutenant. Thomas married Lee Hunt of Traveler’s Rest, SC.

He served in the US Army and attained the rank of First Lieutenant (1LT).

Kukowski was killed in action on May 16, 1971.

He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Kukowski was survived by his mother, Genevieve Amaral, as well as his stepfather, half-brother and half-sister.

Kukowski was awarded numerous awards and decorations including the Purple Heart, the Air Medal, the Bronze Star and the Silver Star.

There is an Army Reserve Center dedicated in his memory in Greenville, SC.
