David B. Freed was born on November 18, 1948, to Rev. and Mrs. George Freed. His home of record is Montclair, NJ. David was an Eagle Scout, woodwind player and high school athlete. He continued his education at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Freed enlisted in the US Marine Corps and attained the rank of Lance Corporal (LCPL). He served as a rocketeer weapons specialist. He started his tour of duty on January 20, 1968.

Freed was killed in action on September 19, 1968, in Quang Tri Province. He has been in Vietnam for nine months. David is buried at Long Island National Cemetery.
