Sigard Richard Grimstad was born on January 18, 1945. His home of record is Teaneck, NJ. He graduated from Teaneck High School in Teaneck, NJ, and Bradley University in Peoria, IL. He studied architectural engineering at night at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, while working during the day as a draftsman.
Grimstad enlisted in the US Marine Corps in June 1967, and attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC).
Grimstad was killed in action on May 19, 1968, while on patrol near Con Thieu.
Grimstad was survived by his mother, Mrs. Hilda Mocker.
