Richard C. Drewes was born on September 14, 1933. His home of record is Trenton, NJ.
Richard was married to Edith Shirley and had four children, Deborah, Richard, Tom and Christopher.

Drewes graduated from Trenton High School and Princeton University. He studied medicine at Hahnemann Hospital and had a general practice in Lawrence Township. Drewes was also on staff at Helene Fuld Hospital from 1959-1960.

Drewes was drafted in 1966 and served in the US Army. He attained the rank of Captain (CAPT). He was assigned to the 27th Surgical Hospital, 44th Medical Brigade.

On December 17, 1968, Drewes’ tour of duty had just ended and he was headed home, when he was killed on his departing flight out of Vietnam. The plane crashed after take-off due to a mechanical malfunction, killing 14 and injuring 30. Richard Drewes is buried at Ewing Church Cemetery in Trenton, New Jersey. He was survived by his wife Edith, sons Richard, Thomas and Christopher, daughter Deborah, brother Robert and parents Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Drewes.
