Victor P. Sherman, Jr. was born July 4, 1947, in Jersey City, NJ. He was an only child and lived in Union City and West New York, NJ, before moving to North Bergen. His home of record is North Bergen, NJ. A 1965 graduate of North Bergen High School, Victor entered a management program at a hotel in New York.
He was drafted into the US Army in October 1966, where he attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC). He was sent to Vietnam in April 1967, and was a paratrooper with the 173rd Airborne Division.
On February 10, 1968, two months before he was due to be sent home, Sherman was killed in action.
He left behind his mother, Mary, and stepfather, John Gimbel. He is buried at Beverly National Cemetery in Beverly, NJ.
