Robert Albanese was born on October 25, 1931. His home of record is Belvidere, NJ. He had one brother, Joseph.
He served in the US Army and attained the rank of Master Sergeant (MSGT). In Vietnam, he served with Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division as an Infantry Operations and Intelligence Specialist.
Albanese was killed in action in a helicopter crash on July 3, 1969, in the Ashau Valley near Camp Evans, in Thua Thien Province.
Albanese is buried in Belvidere Cemetery. He was survived by his wife.
He earned numerous awards and decorations including the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Military Merit Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, and Good Conduct Medal with five bronze loops.
