Donald L. Hunter was born on August 24, 1949 to Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hunter. His home of record is Salem, NJ. He had four brothers; Robert (a drill sergeant at Camp Lejeune), Herbert J., Marvin and William and sister Sharon. Hunter attended Salem High School for two years before enlisting.

He served in the US Marine Corps and attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC).

Hunter was killed in action on January 27, 1968. He is buried at Baptist Cemetery in Salem, NJ.
