Anthony Da Ponte was born on November 22, 1946. His home of record is Freehold, NJ. Anthony had a brother, George, and a sister, Mary. He attended Freehold Regional High School and graduated from Southern Freehold Regional High School in 1966. Before entering the service, he was employed at the Brockway Glass Company in Freehold, NJ.

Da Ponte was inducted into the US Army in October 1966. He arrived in Vietnam in January 1968, and attained the rank of Corporal (CPL). He was assigned to A Troop, 3rd Squadron, 5th Cavalry, 9th Infantry Division. Da Ponte was scheduled for R&R in Australia and due to be discharged in October 1968.

Da Ponte was killed in action on May 28, 1968, in a firefight at Quang Tri, Vietnam.
