Richard Edward Cyran was born February 17, 1949. His home of record is Clifton, NJ. Rich had one brother, John Jr., and three sisters. He attended Clifton public schools and Clifton High School. He received his GED while in the service. He liked football, baseball and all kinds of sports.

Cyran entered the US Army in June 1968. His older brother, John Jr., was serving in the US Air Force and was stationed in Vietnam. Richard arrived in Vietnam on November 22, 1968, one month after his brother returned home. Richard was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division as a driver. He attained the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4).

On June 6, 1969, while serving with Company B, 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry, 25th Infantry Division, Cyran was killed in action.

Cyran was buried on June 21, 1969, at St. Michael’s Cemetery in South Hackensack, NJ.
