Bobby Ray Wilkins was born on June 11, 1945 to Mrs. Alice Louise Wilkins. His home of record is Newark, NJ.
He entered the US Army and attained the rank of Private (PVT). Wilkins served with Charlie Company, 1st Batallion, 61st Infantry Regiment , 5th Infantry Division.
Wilkins’ tour of duty began on July 29, 1968. He was killed in action on June 29, 1969 by small arms fire in Quang Tri, South Vietnam. He was originally buried at Dancy Cemetery in Tarboro, North Carolina and relocated to Princeville Community Cemetery in Tarboro, North Carolina.
He was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, The Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, The Purple Heart, The Army Commendation Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
