Frank Monroe Murphy was born on August 27, 1943. His home of record is Florham Park, NJ. His nickname was “Skip”. A 1961 graduate of Hanover Park High School, Frank went on to college at The Citadel and graduated in 1965. He married Mollie Glennon.

Frank was active in the Boy Scouts and Explorers. He was president of the Calvary Presbyterian Church Youth Fellowship. At Hanover Park, he was sophomore class treasurer, played football and was on the wrestling team for four years. While at The Citadel. he was captain of the football team.

Murphy entered the US Army and attained the rank of First Lieutenant (1LT). He was a platoon commander of the Reconnaissance Platoon of the 22nd Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division.

On December 7, 1966, Murphy was killed when the truck in which he was riding hit an enemy mine.
