John P. Henry was born on March 14, 1949, in Paramus, NJ. His home of record is Paramus, NJ. He graduated from high school in Paramus in 1967.

He enlisted in the US Army in October 1967. Henry attained the rank of Sergeant (SGT).

Henry was killed in action on March 10, 1970. According to a fellow veteran who was there at the time of his death, Dennis Duerr, John went to provide medical attention to a fallen soldier when he was killed. John was nicknamed “Doc” as he served as a platoon medic. He is buried in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ.

John and his wife, Lonny, were married just two weeks when he received his orders for Vietnam.
