Steven M. Goldsboro was born on February 16, 1948, to Orville and Ruth Goldsboro, Sr. His home of record is Camden, NJ. He had five brothers, Vincent, Orville Jr., Wayne, Bruce and Michael, and four sisters, Denise, Gina, Pamela and Carol. He graduated from Pyne Point Junior High School in North Camden in 1964.

Goldsboro enlisted in the US Marine Corps and attained the rank of Corporal (CPL). He was assigned to M Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. He was shipped to Vietnam in August 1966.

Goldsboro was killed in action on February 8, 1967, while taking part on Operation Desoto. He was killed by small arms fire near the hamlet of Vinh Minh, Duc Pho district, Qung Ngai Province. He received wounds in the head, back, stomach and left leg.

He is buried in New Camden Cemetery, Camden, NJ.

He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
