Louis J. Cofrancesco, Jr. was born on June 8, 1948, to Louis and Lee Cofrancesco. His home of record is Paterson, NJ. Louis had two sisters, JoAnn and Arlene and a brother, Richard. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Paterson. His favorite sports were football and basketball.

Cofrancesco served in the US Army. He was assigned to E Company, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry, 3rd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division. He attained the rank of Corporal (CPL).

Cofrancesco was killed in action on September 15, 1968. He is buried in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Paterson, NJ.

He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation, the Expert Rifle Badge with 3 bars, the Sharpshooter Badge with 2 bars, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
