David L. Boyd was born on October 27, 1948. His home of record is Newark, NJ. Boyd was born in Philadelphia and moved to Newark with his family in 1963. He graduated from Newton Street School and later attended South Side High School. Boyd left high school to enter the Job Corps in 1965 and found employment with Kent Leather Products in Newark.
Boyd enlisted in the US Marine Corps in May 1967 and attained the rank of Lance Corporal (LCPL). He was sent to Vietnam in September 1967.
On February 9, 1968, at the age of 19, David Boyd was killed in action in South Vietnam, Quang Tri Province.
He was survived by his mother (Marion Steward), father (Leroy Boyd), sister (Bernice), wife (Jane Boyd) and children, Toby and Toinette (who was born after his passing). He is buried at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield, NJ.
