Claude J. Gaspard, Jr. was born on October 14, 1946, to Claude and Mary Gaspard. His home of record is Short Hills, NJ. He had one sister, Carol. Claude attended Millburn High School.

Gaspard enlisted in the US Army and attained the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4). He served as a Dog Handler as part of the 33rd Scout Platoon.

Gaspard was killed in action on May 20, 1968.

Claude’s memory was honored at a public ceremony on May 7, 2004, dedicating a memorial at Millburn High School for former students who died in the Vietnam War. At the ceremony, it was remembered that Claude liked to drink Awful Awful milkshakes and as a prank had once stretched Saran Wrap across Millburn Avenue.

He is buried at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Short Hills, NJ.
