Harrison B. Shauger was born on September 8, 1947. His home of record is Vernon, NJ. He lived with his aunt and uncle after the death of his parents when he was 16. He had nine brothers and sisters. He attended Franklin High School, leaving in 1965, as a junior, to join the US Army.

He enlisted in the US Army and attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC). He was a paratrooper assigned to C Company, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division.

Shauger was killed in action by enemy gunfire on September 30, 1968, in Quang Duc Province, Vietnam.

Harrison received numerous awards and decorations including the Combat Infantryman Badge, Silver Star, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.
