Biography


Russell H. Cornish was born on September 28, 1942, to Mr. and Mrs. A. Harrison Cornish.  He was born in Orange, NJ, and lived in Maplewood, NJ, since infancy.  His home of record is Maplewood.  He had one sister, Barbara.  Russell graduated from Blair Academy.  He continued his education by receiving his B.A. degree from Ohio Wesleyan in 1965 and his master's in business administration from the University of Michigan in 1967. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon while at Ohio Wesleyan University. 

In September of 1967, Cornish enlisted in the Army and took his basic training at Ft. Knox, KY.  He attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC).  Cornish was assigned to the 22nd Mechanized Infantry at Dau Tieng. 

Cornish was killed in action on April 12, 1968, at the age of 25.  He had been in country just two months when he was killed. He is buried at Millington Baptist Church Cemetery in Millington, NJ.

Cornish was engaged to Jean Borssuk of Chicago, IL.  They planned to be married when he completed his service obligation in the following year.
