Women Veterans Meditation Garden

On Veterans Day 2001, the Women Veterans Meditation Garden was dedicated adjacent to the Vietnam Museum & Educational Center. The garden is a lasting tribute to the thousands of women, both military and civilian, who served during the Vietnam Era and continue to serve today.

The garden includes a fountain, a covered pergola with benches and a variety of plants chosen to provide color and texture year-round. The garden was designed by the Monmouth County Master Gardeners Association. It was built and planted by the New Jersey Highway Authority, with funds provided by the New Jersey State Legislature with the assistance of Assemblyman Jack Collins.
The Garden pays special honor to Captain Eleanor Alexander, the only woman honored on our Memorial. There is also a special tribute to those involved in Operation Babylift, a humanitarian effort that rescued thousands of Vietnamese orphans from Saigon, just before its fall in 1975.
