Biography


Larry Pypniowski was born on October 24, 1948, in Fall River, MA, and later moved with his family to Flemington, NJ.  His home of record is White House Station, NJ.  Larry graduated from Hunterdon Central High School in 1967, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, swimming and roller-skating.  He was employed at the Johns-Manville Corp. for a year until he went into the service.

Pypniowski entered the US Army in June 1968. He received infantry training at Fort Gordon, GA, and paratrooper training at Fort Benning, GA, before going to Vietnam on January 4, 1969. He attained the rank of Corporal (CPL) and served as a paratrooper in the 3rd PLT, D Co, 1st BN, 503rd Infantry, 173rd Airborne Division.  

 On September 16, 1969, Pypniowski was killed in action in Pleiku Province, South Vietnam, when he stepped on a mine while on a mission out of Bong Son.

He is honored with eight other Hunterdon Central High School former students in its Hall of Fame.
