Biography
John J. Shaw was born on July 21, 1945. His home of record is Jersey City, NJ. At Snyder High School, John was a member of the J.V. Basketball Team, Freshman Football Team, and Intramural Basketball Team. His favorite pastime was playing football. He lived with widowed mother and sister Mary.
He served in the US Army and attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC). He was with B Company, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 196th Light Infantry Brigade. His tour began on July 15, 1966.
Shaw was killed in action on January 29, 1967 in Tay Ninh, South Vietnam. He died from multiple fragmentation wounds.
