Biography


Arnold C. Hayward was born on November 4, 1932.  His home of record is Trenton, NJ.  Arnold attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden and was the center on the football team. Hayward graduated from Trenton High School and Western Maryland University.

Hayward served in the US Army and attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (LTC).   He had a goal of making a career as an officer. He was assigned to Headquarters Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division.

Hayward was killed in action on July 11, 1969, on Hill 996. This was Hayward’s secomd tour of Vietnam. He was survived by his parents, Rev. and Mrs. J. Courtney Hayward.
