Biography

Anthony J. Gadda, Jr. was born on August 28, 1946. His home of record is East Rutherford, NJ. Anthony graduated from high school in 1965. He wanted to enlist in the US Air Force just after graduation but his mother broke her leg falling down the stairs. Instead, he nursed his mother back to health. Just as his mother's health returned, Anthony received his draft notice.

To ensure that he could choose his own training path, Gadda enlisted in the US Army in February 1966. He was assigned to Vietnam in November 1966, as a helicopter mechanic attached to a medical battalion. He attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC)

Gadda was killed in action on November 6, 1966, when the plane he was in crashed.

He is buried in Cavalry Cemetery in Paterson, NJ.

Information from Fred Kohmuench (veteran), newspaper clippings and NJVVMF.
