Biography


David Bashaw was born on March 11, 1948, in Omaha, NE, to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bashaw.  He had one brother, Robert, and a sister, Janice.  His family also lived in Broomall, PA, before settling in Elizabeth, NJ.  His home of record is Elizabeth.  He attended Elizabeth High School and spend six months working in New York prior to enlisting.

Bashaw joined the Marines in June 1965.  He received his basic training at Parris Island, SC, and Camp Lejeune, NC.  He was first stationed in the Caribbean and then sent to Vietnam.  He was assigned to the 3rd Marine Division and attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC)..

Bashaw was killed in action on June 7, 1966, in Da Nang, Vietnam, having only been in country for three weeks.
