Biography


Donald W. Drake was born on April 25, 1945.  His home of record is Newton, NJ.  He was one of eight children born to Orville and Marion Drake.  Donald attended Newton High School and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Donald enlisted in the US Marine Corps and attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC).  He served with K Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines.

Drake was killed in action on December 31, 1966.  He is buried in Sparta Cemetery, Sparta, NJ. 

Drake was awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon bar.
