Biography


Dennis Kline was born on February 9, 1945. His home of record is Phillipsburg, NJ. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1965. He was a good mechanic and loved his 1954 white Chevy.

He served in the US Army and attained the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4). He was assigned to D Company, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Division, 196th Infantry Brigade and B Company, 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry, 25th Division.

Kline was killed in action on March 21, 1967, when he was hit with metal fragments in the head during a close support air strike as part of a hostile enemy action.

He is interred in the St. Phillips and St. James Cemetery in Phillipsburg, NJ. He was married and had one daughter.

Kline received numerous awards and medals including the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Medal, the Military Merit Medal, the Gallantry Cross with Palm, the Good Conduct Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
