Biography

Anthony Kent Johnson was born on October 6, 1940.  Anthony had three siblings.  He graduated from Cranford High School in 1958, and attended the University of New York in Farmingdale.  He enjoyed model airplanes and was a member of the chess club.  Anthony was a very keen and witty young man.

He entered the US Air Force where he attained the rank of Captain (CPT) and had hoped to make the military his career.  Johnson was sent to Lakeland Air Force Base in Texas.  He continued his training at Harlington Officers School in Texas, and then on to Mathers Air Force Base in California.  He was stationed at Columbus Air Force Base when he was sent to Vietnam.

On July 8, 1967, Johnson was a navigator and radar operator on a B-52.  He was filling in for another officer on a trip to Vietnam when he had to make a forced landing at Danang airfield due to brake failure.  The plane hit land mines around the base.

In addition to his parents, he was survived by his wife and son.
