Biography


Joseph T. Tiefenthaler was born on October 19, 1945. His home of record is Brooklawn, NJ. He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Francis Tiefenthaler. He grew up in Brooklawn, NJ on Nansen Avenue. He was known to friends as Tieffy. He graduated from high school in 1965. He was drafted into the US Army and served as an infantryman.

He served in the US Army and attained the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4). He was assigned to B Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division. He began his tour of duty in Vietnam on August 2, 1966.

Tiefenthaler was killed in action on May 13, 1967 by small arms fire in Binh Dinh province, South Vietnam.
