Biography


Michael William Martineau was born on March 5, 1947, to Edward and Alicia Martineau. His home of record is Manville, NJ. He had two brothers, Edward and Joseph, and two sisters, Alicia and Ruth. Michael graduated from Manville High School in 1965.

Michael loved cars and everything about them.

In March 1966, Michael entered the US Army and attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC). He served with Company A, 2nd Battalion, 39th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division.

Martineau was killed in action on April 4, 1967. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was awarded the bronze star "for meritorious service in connection with military operations against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam." He is buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Manville, NJ.
