Biography


William S. Davis III was born on November 17, 1936.  His home of record is Demarest, NJ.  In 1959, Davis was in the first graduating class of the Air Force Academy.

He enlisted in the US Air Force and attained the rank of Captain (CAPT).

Davis was killed in action when his jet crashed on September 19, 1966.  Davis was returning from a mission where he was serving as co-pilot and navigator.

Davis was buried at the Air Force Academy chapel, a request he made to his mother before his tour in Vietnam.  He was survived by his mother, Mrs. Eugene Smith, his wife, Linda, and his 15-month old daughter.
