Biography


William Russo was born on September 3, 1948, to Pasquale and Kitty Russo.  His home of record is Elizabeth, NJ.  He had four sisters, Mary, Frances, Kathy and Phyllis, and one brother, Raymond.  He attended Jefferson High School. William was interested in art.

He served in the US Marine Corps and attained the rank of Lance Corporal (LCPL).  He was assigned to L Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd marines, 3rd Marine Division.

Russo was killed in action on May 28, 1968.  He is buried in Rahway, NJ.

He was awarded two Purple Heart medals, the Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
