Biography
Robert Jacob Garrido was born on February 4, 1946. His home of record is Newark, NJ. He graduated from Barringer High School in 1964. He worked for the Continental Insurance Company after high school.
Garrido enlisted in the US Air Force in 1965 and attained the rank of Airman First Class (A1C).
Garrido went through basic training at Lackland Air Force Base and served in the Philippines. He began his tour of duty in Vietnam in August 1967. Garrido was attached to the 460th Division of Armament and Electronics at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Saigon where he worked with cameras for reconnaissance aircraft.
Garrido was killed in action on May 6, 1968, in Gia Dinh, South Vietnam. He had been in Vietnam for 10 months and was due to leave in August 1968.
